Picosecond fractional laser technology
Clearance of pitted scars and outstanding skin rejuvenation
Are you suffering from pitted scars?
- Every time you look in the mirror, do the indentations on your skin make you feel self-conscious and shy?
- Do you want to eliminate pitted scars but fear methods that cause prolonged scabbing and require a long recovery time
- Are you looking for a solution that not only improves scars but also helps your skin become firmer, smoother and more youthful?
- Are you worried about overly invasive procedures weakening your skin after treatment?
Now, you no longer have to compromise between treating scars and protecting your skin. With Picosecond fractional laser technology at Doctor Acnes, pitted scars are improved without worrying about downtime. This technology also stimulates collagen production, making the skin firmer, rejuvenated and more even-toned after each treatment session.
Introduction to Picosecond fractional laser technology at Doctor Acnes
Picosecond fractional laser technology is an outstanding advancement in pitted scar treatment, skin rejuvenation and pigmentation disorders. With an ultra-short pulse mechanism measured in picoseconds (1 picosecond equals one trillionth of a second) combined with fractional separation, this technology precisely targets the treatment area, stimulating collagen production without damaging the skin surface.
At Doctor Acnes, the Discovery Pico system from Quanta System (Italy) is utilized to optimize fractional laser technology. With two wavelengths, 1064nm and 532nm, Discovery Pico offers diverse and safe treatment capabilities suitable for many skin types. This system has been certified by the US FDA, European CE and ISO for efficacy and safety.
Operating principle
Picosecond fractional laser is an advanced technology combining the LIOB effect and a cold ablative mechanism to effectively treat pitted scars from deep within the skin without causing surface damage:
- LIOB (Laser Induced Optical Breakdown): A special effect found only in high-end laser lines like Discovery Pico. This effect creates micro-injuries in the dermis layer, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. As a result, pitted scars are filled, skin structure is regenerated, resulting in smooth and even-toned skin.
- Cold ablation: Uses high energy with ultra-short pulse durations to create small, concentrated fractional columns with high energy density surrounded by a low energy density background. This helps reduce the risk of burning and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, while providing a comfortable experience and fast recovery time.
- Dual stimulation: The collagen remodeling and cold ablation processes occur simultaneously, creating a dual stimulation effect that helps fill scars, resurface the skin and promote more robust recovery and rejuvenation.

Effectiveness of Picosecond fractional laser for scar treatment at Doctor Acnes
Skincare before and after scar treatment with
Picosecond fractional laser
Before treatment
Limit sun exposure and use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for at least 4 weeks before treatment.
If there is a history of herpes simplex (oral or genital) or shingles in the treatment area, the Doctor may prescribe antiviral medication such as valacyclovir or acyclovir to be used 2 days before and up to 3 days after treatment.
After treatment
The skin usually takes about 1 – 2 weeks to fully recover. Proper care during this period is very important to achieve optimal results:
- First 24 hours: keep the skin clean, avoid sweat, pollution and do not touch your face. Wash your face gently with physiological saline, avoiding direct contact with tap water to reduce the risk of infection. Use moisturizing and recovery essence as directed.
- Days 2 – 5: continue to keep the skin clean, limit exposure to polluted environments. A mild cleanser can be used to clean the skin. Continue applying moisturizer and recovery products to support the healing process until the skin completely peels off.
- After day 7: if there is still abnormal itching, burning, swelling, pain, or fluid leakage, it is necessary to visit a dermatologist for timely examination and treatment.
- Within 14 days: avoid swimming pools, the sea, hot water, saunas, or facial massages. These factors can increase the risk of infection or cause irritation to the recovering skin.

Is Picosecond fractional laser for pitted scar treatment painful?
The Picosecond fractional laser treatment process only causes a slight stinging sensation thanks to the cold ablation mechanism. Additionally, the skin area is numbed before the procedure, providing a comfortable feeling with almost no pain or burning.
How long does it take to see clear results?
The effectiveness of pitted scar treatment with Picosecond fractional laser usually becomes apparent after 3 – 4 weeks, when the skin is stimulated to produce collagen and regenerate. However, to achieve optimal results, it is necessary to complete the full treatment course as prescribed by the Doctor, usually from 3 – 5 sessions depending on the skin condition.
Can Picosecond fractional laser be combined with other scar treatment methods?
At Doctor Acnes, pitted scar treatment is performed according to a multimodal treatment regimen, combining Picosecond fractional laser with many other methods such as RF microneedling, subcision, CROSS TCA, meso injection and chemical peels.
